Tuesday, July 12th, 2005 Start: 6:24pm

Those in Attendance: Lauren Harms, Nora Simon, Jonathan Rivers, Jordan Heise, Natalie Doman, Jordan Smith

President’s Report:

  • Went paint supply shopping to get needed items for Oar Painting Days.
  • Rower’s Handbook is almost complete. Plan on bringing to the Executive Board Meeting for review.

Vice-President:

  • In charge of Oar Painting Days, which are set for July 26 and 28, from 3-6pm.

Commodore:

  • Will check boats on Oar Painting Days.

Historian:

  • Plans to track individual erg scores, and regatta results. There are plans to make a year book type album this year.

Treasurer:

  • Not Present.

Secretary:

  • Nothing.

Fund Raising Committee Report:

  • There are plans to sell T-shirt space to businesses for fundraising. An example would be the Marlins T-shirts. They will work on cost estimates for shirts and how much space on the shirts would sell for.
  • They plan to come up with other Fundraising Idea’s.

New Business:

Fall Season Business/Plans:

  • Harms presents Motion to buy Coxswains Book. Simon, seconds the motion. Vote of Yes by rest of members. Motion Passed
  • There is an idea for a Rowing Buddy/Mentoring program to be erected between the Varsity and Novice members. Would also help with team bonding.
  • There are plans for a Welcome Picnic for Novice and New Rowers to meet and greet and view the boathouse, as well as a chance for parents to ask questions.
  • Plans to make a tutorial for novice about general boat maintenance, strapping, rigging, loading, and general workings.
  • Plans for more hands on training for new coxswains.
  • Nora is adding a terminology section to the Rowing Handbook, which is under way.
  • Plans to make individual account information more readily available to rowers. Also we need to work with our Treasurer, Cappy, more closely so we know what is going on with accounts and can get steady reports.
  • Plans to make a KSRA Jr. website we can update with information.

Recruiting/Fundraising:

  • Jordan Heise and Clint Harris will work on recruiting ideas and will be in charge on setting up things when we got to schools to recruit. They need to look into recruiting at surrounding High Schools such as Riley County and Flint Hills.
  • We need to see if we can get Rent-A-Rower, more actively used by the community. It would help with fundraising and costs.

Old Business:

  • The Coaching Committee meeting interviewed Pete, and there is a high chance he will get the position. Assistant Coach/s position is still open and underway. They are still unsure who will get each position.
  • Summer Rowing is underway and has been going well. There Sunflower State Regatta is on July 15th .
  • Lauren and Natalie will be able to sign/co-sign for checks once things are verified. We still need to see how this is arranged.

President’s Report:

  • Still need to collect shirt money from one person. All other money has been collected.

Vice President:

  • Nothing

Head Coach

  • Nothing. Not in attendance.

Secretary

  • Brought Minute’s book.

Treasurer

  • Nothing.

Commodore

  • Need to paint the Columbia’s Oars. Lauren and Nora will schedule a date to paint.
  • Took inventory of equipment.
  • Need to work on boats electrical systems. Look at the Malacar’s wires.

Historian

  • Nothing. Not in attendance.

New Business:

  • Recruiting
    –Went to Eisenhower, Anthony, and Lucky Middles School’s for recruiting.
    –Still Getting e-mails from recruits.
  • Summer Rowing
    –1st day or summer rowing turnout expected to be good.
    –Summer rowing will start Wednesday, June 1st at 5:30pm, with a BBQ afterwards.
    –Summer rowing will be held Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:30-7:30pm.
    –There are plans to make a rowing handbook for rowers and new recruits. It will probably be an update from Amy’s older one.
    –Craig will work with advanced and varsity rowers on Friday and Amy will be with the new recruits for the start of summer rowing.
  • Other
    –Team Captain’s position for next year will be open to both Juniors and Senior Rowers because of a lack in Senior Class Rowers.
    –Planning and search for coaches criteria and applications is still under way.

Old Business:

  • There is still a question of whether or not the trophies from the banquet were paid for to the right person.
  • We need to find/assign someone to be able to sign for checks.
  • There is a question of whether or not the money from the tank Amy sold ever got to Cappy.
